They begged me to go. Mom, pahleeease come with us. We can bring the mattress you and Dad sleep on and your back will be fine. I didn't have the heart to say it wasn't just the back issue I was dealing with. How about the snake issue, the spider issue, the bathroom issue, the Norman Bates issue. I really wasn't kidding on the last camping trip from Hades when I announced I was ... Read More »

Easter Sunday
We had a wonderful day celebrating our risen Savior. Our morning started out incredibly sweet with a powerful lesson learned through scripture. The washing of feet by Jesus to his disciples. I love that my kids were taught how Jesus set the example of humility through washing his disciples feet. Because you know what? Almost the entire elementary Sunday School class thought ... Frying Pan Armor and other miscellany
Mornings in our household aren't boring. Mitchell wakes up full throttle bounding down the stairs exclaiming, "I'm alive!!!!" I'm not sure if he's surprised or just excited to still be living and breathing. Either way it does my soul good to hear his energy and excitement proving he is indeed alive and well. Yes, very alive. This week he suited up in frying pan armor? I guess ... Read More »
A Merit Badge project that had all three of us crying
Our son is working on his Citizenship merit badge for Boy Scouts and so we had to attend a court case in our county. We met the Clerk of Court who was so nice to Mitchell and showed him around. He tried several court rooms before finding the one that he felt would be a good fit for us. He alerted the bailiff and court officials that we would be sitting in and there we sat on ... Read More »
Risking intrusion
MLK Day in our community was observed by an outdoor service and reading of Martin Luther King Jr's "I have a dream" speech on the City Hall steps. It was profound and sobering to hear these words. My heart still doesn't know what to make of some things. Like the fact that many people showed up but only our family and two other white people were there. One of which was the Mayor ... Read More »
On Football
Notice the earbuds and the headphones in at the same time. It's because she was so tired but wanted to watch the football game with her Daddy - who happens to be extremely LOUD during the game. Bless her pea-pickin' heart. Love that girl and her loud Daddy. And although we wanted Auburn to win Randy said it was a fantastic game. I wouldn't know because I wasn't on the other ... Read More »
Celebrating my man today
I love this man right here. For so many different reasons I love him. But these are just a few……. We had a friend bring us two wonderfully scrumptious truffles back from the cheesecake factory. My truffle lasted .o2 seconds. Randy, on the other hand, left his on the counter. All day long. I was home all day long and passed by that truffle a hundred times. When the kids got ... Read More »
Yeah? Well my husband is a Pinterest Model!
I've been collecting ideas on Pinterest and looking around for frames and props for the popular Photo Booth idea for a fundraiser at our school. Randy and I were at Hobby Lobby getting some stuff and I saw this one oval frame and snatched it up while I could. I explained the whole idea to Randy and he attempted to model it for me. Do you see the resemblance? Hint: The real ... Read More »
