Her name had been given to me as somebody who could use encouragement. Someone who hadn't seen family in long time. No visitors in a while. I walked in the nursing home room and asked for "Ms. Linda". And there she was. Without turning around she peered out her window and quietly said, "That's me." She was sitting in a wheelchair with one foot propped up on the heating unit. ... Read More »

What spiritual training looks like for our family right now
We are participating in a 40 day Bible Reading Plan with our church which started on Monday. We are reading in Proverbs and one other section of the Bible 5 days a week for 40 days. The kids are working through it as well with less verses than the adults. We have a Facebook page where we post the daily reading and then comment on what God showed us in our reading. I ... Here's just a few of the people (outside of my family) I'm thankful for that have had an influence on me this past year. My ... Read More »

3 ways to overcome the fear of praying aloud
Sweaty palms. Hives. Stomach in knots. A loss for words. It's what some of us go through as we begin to pray aloud in a group. And there's nothing wrong with that. I've had four conversations with awesome Christian people in the last few weeks that have explained their desire to pray aloud but the anxiety that rises up keeps them from showing up or contributing to praying ...
