We had a wonderful day celebrating our risen Savior. Our morning started out incredibly sweet with a powerful lesson learned through scripture. The washing of feet by Jesus to his disciples. I love that my kids were taught how Jesus set the example of humility through washing his disciples feet. Because you know what? Almost the entire elementary Sunday School class thought ... Crammed dishwashers and other cool stuff
Mitchell and Sophie are learning how to load the dishwasher these days. Emphasis on learning hence the entire 12 piece place setting of glasses crammed into one load. Randy and I were talking away at the kitchen table soaking up the great feeling of having our children clean the kitchen. This is totally new for them. They've helped with setting and clearing the table for a long ... Read More »
Kitchen Table Talk – sharing the Gospel with others
We've been talking about ideas for our families at their kitchen tables this week. And I'm pretty sure that part of this next idea is something you might already do with your family. Dye Easter eggs. But what I want to get us thinking about is how we could do this and bring in some neighborhood kids or unchurched school friends to do it with us because what better time of year ... Read More »
A few things I never thought I’d see in our kitchen
1) Ground Flaxseed I don't have a clue what this stuff is I just hear it's good for you. Apparently I overdosed the family on it though when I put waaaaaay too much in a fruit smoothie. It didn't exactly go over so well and was very grainy. It was evident nobody like it. I'll cut back the next time I make one. Nobody knows this is in the cabinet but me. I tried one of those ... When Church Hurts
I read in an article once, "Church is not the place for infertiles, on Mother's Day." The author went on to explain how painfully difficult Mother's Day at church can be for the one sitting in the pew who remains barren. Roses are given out in honor of all the Mother's at church. Some Mother's are awarded pies and cakes for having the most children, the youngest child or like ... Read More »
A Merit Badge project that had all three of us crying
Our son is working on his Citizenship merit badge for Boy Scouts and so we had to attend a court case in our county. We met the Clerk of Court who was so nice to Mitchell and showed him around. He tried several court rooms before finding the one that he felt would be a good fit for us. He alerted the bailiff and court officials that we would be sitting in and there we sat on ... Read More »
A lie we might be believing
It was early and still dark outside but I felt the tugging of the Spirit dragging my sleepy self out of bed. I turned in my Bible and read some, prayed and recalled the amazing events of the night before. God called a friend of mine to Himself through salvation. It was such a precious thing to witness. I still was on a high from it all and soaking up everything God was doing. ... Read More »
What you fear your kids say about you in Sunday School.
I had one of those cringe moments Sunday morning as I was teaching the 4 & 5's class during church. We were talking about sin and how we all do it. The kids were talking about how they kick, get angry and lie, etc. I said, "Mrs. Melody sins too." Of course I wasn't exactly ready to start listing them so freely and childlike but one of the girls said, "Like what! What do you ... Read More »
