Mornings in our household aren't boring. Mitchell wakes up full throttle bounding down the stairs exclaiming, "I'm alive!!!!" I'm not sure if he's surprised or just excited to still be living and breathing. Either way it does my soul good to hear his energy and excitement proving he is indeed alive and well. Yes, very alive. This week he suited up in frying pan armor? I guess ... Read More »

A new “Family Night” experience
Family nights in our household usually consist of a Friday night either playing card games or watching a movie and crashing in the living room. Our best ever Family Night movie was Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure. It's awesome because it has stupid lines and great music for break out dance sessions. Not that any of us would dance since we're Baptist like John the Baptist was. ... Read More »
A few things I never thought I’d see in our kitchen
1) Ground Flaxseed I don't have a clue what this stuff is I just hear it's good for you. Apparently I overdosed the family on it though when I put waaaaaay too much in a fruit smoothie. It didn't exactly go over so well and was very grainy. It was evident nobody like it. I'll cut back the next time I make one. Nobody knows this is in the cabinet but me. I tried one of those ... Valentine’s Day Plan B was awesome!
Our church Valentine's Banquet was cancelled due to the snow so we made last minute family plans to go see the Lego Movie and eat at Long Horn. And this started the best day evahhhhh. We had so much fun. I'm not sure if it was in part because were were just glad to get out of the house for the first time in three days or if it was because love was in the air or what. We just ... Dear #12, your mama needed to spank you.
Our school had their homecoming court and games the other week. They did an Instagram theme with hashtag statements and pictures all over the gym. Balloons, class representatives all dressed up and family snapping pictures were all part of the scene. Tons of fun. But the fun quickly turned into stress, frustration and down right anger as we started playing another basket ball ... Read More »
This too shall pass
Our animal loving preteen put his gerbils in the GA bulldog helmet lamp and delighted in their new play area while I was having a panic attack on the sidelines. Love that profile of our manchild that's turning into a young man. I keep reminding myself that I will miss these crazy pet antics that he pulls. The live bird he found outside and put in the purely decorative bird ... Read More »
When Church Hurts
I read in an article once, "Church is not the place for infertiles, on Mother's Day." The author went on to explain how painfully difficult Mother's Day at church can be for the one sitting in the pew who remains barren. Roses are given out in honor of all the Mother's at church. Some Mother's are awarded pies and cakes for having the most children, the youngest child or like ... Read More »
A Merit Badge project that had all three of us crying
Our son is working on his Citizenship merit badge for Boy Scouts and so we had to attend a court case in our county. We met the Clerk of Court who was so nice to Mitchell and showed him around. He tried several court rooms before finding the one that he felt would be a good fit for us. He alerted the bailiff and court officials that we would be sitting in and there we sat on ... Read More »
