It started with ramblings like this: “Lord, I’m tired of being the Mom who other Moms look at to gain an appreciation for what their child has in the area of hearing and the ability to focus. I am tired of being the one who gives everyone else “perspective”. I whined and complained a bit and then went on with more important things until my profound day of perspective ... Read More »

Fun Tulip & Asparagus Arrangement
I just love this flower arrangement that a friend told me about years ago. It’s very easy. What you need: tall cylinder vase (can also use mayo or pickle jar but best results are with the cylinder style vase) one bundle of asparagus (keep the rubber bands that hold them together) one package tulips or your favorite kind of flower ($5 at Walmart) Cute ribbon (any craft ... Flower Find
This is my latest flower find in my neighborhood! A simply gorgeous tree that blooms everywhere around here. I have no idea what it is but there’s a vacant house across the the street from us and this purplicious tree has branches spilling over onto the sidewalk so I figure it’s totally fine for me to snip some branches and clean up the street some. I have enjoyed them so much ... Read More »
The art of stealing flowers
Flowers are by far a fetish of mine. Tulips are my favorite and they’re in major bloom right now which means we’ve had tulips in our house for the last several weeks. Walmart has them for really cheap. Like almost two dozen for $5.00. But after buying them for three weeks in a row I decided I should not spend anymore of the grocery money on flowers. Culinary Disaster
Introducing my most recent culinary disaster….. char grilled, char-colate chip muffins. It’s easy. All you do is cook them on 425 for about ten minutes longer than they should be and whah-lah there you have it. Let’s just put it this way – the pans are still soaking in my kitchen sink. And these were the muffins I was supposed to offer at Bible Study last night. Our first ... Read More »
Cake Fail
It looks like a scene from a Halloween movie. Ha! It’s beautiful on the inside though ………creamy red velvet, perfectly round cake but the outside just took a bad turn at the end. Randy entered the kitchen and this was our conversation: Me: (laughingly) Hey take a look at the cake Randy: Awwww, that's so nice – looks great! Me: No, really, look at the cake Randy: I did Me: ... Adoption – When to tell
Our kids have known from early on that they are adopted. We decided from the beginning that we would tell them their adoption story starting when they were even too young to understand. So at about six months of age we started telling each one their adoption story. We make it short and fun ....like the part where we got pulled over by a policeman and almost got a ticket. I ... The Cost of Adoption
One of my dreams in life is to start some kind of a support system through the local church for couples who desire to adopt but don’t have the financial means to do so. I can only guess the desire comes from personal experience as a couple who experienced multiple infertility treatments and then adoption costs which can suck a purse dry. It was worth every penny and we didn’t ... Read More »
