Thanks to a friend who Skyped Sophie's Kindergarten program her Daddy and Grandparents could watch it live from the hospital. Her class sang songs, quoted Bible verses, recited poems and played "take the chair". It was an awesome program. But I have to say my all time favorite part was at the end when our principal was praying and all heads were bowed and eyes closed. From the ... Read More »

How I met my husband
It was in the seventh grade when my family started attending a new church. It wasn’t long after that I found myself riding on “Big Bertha”, the church bus, and sitting alone because I didn’t know anyone on that youth group outing. About 30 minutes into the ride a cute boy came up to me. I didn't know his name. All I knew was that he was the preacher’s kid. He grabbed a coke out ... Read More »
Sophie’s Adoption
As a family we had been praying about adopting again. We all wanted a little girl but we were open to the child God would place in our arms. We had been applied with our agency for two years and the only correspondence we received after being approved was a letter. It encouraged all the waiting couples to be applying with other adoption agencies because they had so many couples ... Read More »
Mitchell’s Adoption Story
Adoption has been an amazing eye opening experience for us. One that has given us more glimpses into the sovereignty of God. Rattled but not Shaken
I received some highly offensive comments last week from a particular blogger and her friends in response to some of my adoption posts. Here is a segment of the “nicer” comments. “… it sickens me to see an adoptive parent bringing God into adoption. I am so thankful my adoptive parents were ok with their infertility and explained our adoptions rationally and trutfully. The fact ... Read More »
Infertility: The Heart of the Issue
Infertility has the potential of changing someone forever. It is an extremely difficult road that is hard for anyone to fully fathom unless they themselves have walked it. Pain... Confusion... Sorrow... Grief... Prayer... Hope... Expectation... Strength... Longing... Guilt... Weakness.... were all parts of the infertility journey for me. The pain was both physical and ... Read More »
An Oath to fellow infertile sisters
I, Melody, an IF survivor, hereby solemnly swear the following: I will not ask you, “Don’t you guys want kids?” I promise not to offer TTC advice as if you’ve never thought about these things before…..I will refrain hard from telling you to “do it” on an elevated board. I will not tell you to flippin’ relax! I will not talk about my kids the entire Girl’s Night Out. I ... Read More »
Prayer like I’ve never seen it
Some members of our church had the awesome experience of attending a community prayer meeting at one of our local churches in our town. This week it was held at an African American church down the road. Sophie and I joined the group today for the first time and I can’t tell you what a true blessing it was. I have never experienced anything like it in my life. It was like ... Read More »
