How bad is it that on the way to church I threatened the kids to wash their mouths out with soap….from the "Blessing Bag"! Sigh. These blessing bags seemed like the best idea ever at the time. Blessing bags….where you fill up a gallon size zip lock bag with toiletries, snacks and socks and keep on hand in your car to give to a homeless person. Honestly, it's been harder than I ... Tokens of Prayer
My sweet friend, Sara Baker, just lost her father last Monday. He was an incredible man that left a godly heritage. He worked as Assistant to the President of Child Evangelism Fellowship for over 20 years. Reese Kauffman, the President of CEF, spoke at Mr. Baker's funeral on Saturday and he recalled some powerful things about the life of Buzz Baker. There were common threads ... Read More »

When Pinterest fails you and posers crash your nativity scene.
I have a love/hate relationship with Pinterest. It's because of pictures like these. It looks so simple. Like all you do is go out in your front yard and pluck a few magnolia branches and then dig out your first grader's red paint and whalah you have festive Pinterest leaves. Nah. It ain't so. This is more like it…... Thinly painted (even though it's 6 coats) and dried ... Read More »
The $40.90 ice cream bill
Over a casual conversation with our son's teacher we found out he had been charging ice cream at school. No biggie right? All kids do a little charging every now and then. Yeah, well, every now and then had turned into a daily indulgence of Mississippi Mud Bars at a $1.90 a pop. I discovered this one day by off handedly emailing his teacher and informing her we would be ... Read More »
We have a bird story
Over the hills and through the woods……….to both Grandparent's, Aunts and Uncles houses we went. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving with our families. One of the highlights was going to my sister's house. There is a fabulous little creek in the back and the kids love swinging on the rope swing and playing in the creek. Thankfully nobody fell in the creek Thanksgiving day. Mitchell ... Read More »
God amazes me
He really does amaze me. The fact that God is alive and presently working in and through his followers is incredible to me. When we ask him to and even when we don't he works on our behalf and on the behalf of others. Recently upon asking God for opportunities to show his love to others he arranged a divine appointment in a drug store. The young woman checking me out had a ... Read More »
Reaching out when the Outreach event is over
Our church participated in a huge outreach event last month and it had a big impact on us. We saw people in need respond by the hundreds. It changed us and we were pumped up about it at church. I found myself praying for God to give me more OIAM opportunities but in my daily routine. To give me eyes to see people the way He does. I love this familiar verse….. Hebrews 13:2 Do ... Read More »
