So my pastor is also my husband. I used to be naughty and tell people I sleep with the pastor but that’s really not funny so I stopped saying it. But I think it in my head a lot because deep down I really do think it’s pretty funny. But don’t tell anyone.
So this post is one in which I must simply brag on my man. He created the program below for a recent women’s ministry event called “Front Porch Stories”. I shared my vision with him and he took what was in my heart and head onto these pages. It’s a ton of work to put together something like this. He does it because he loves me but he also does it because he values and supports women’s ministry.
We have never served in a church where there has been a women’s ministry budget. My prayer is that one day that will change but up until now it’s been covered through generous women passionate about women’s ministry and ticket sales to cover event costs.
So here’s what I do mean when I say my pastor hubs supports women’s ministry. Randy understands that sometimes for women’s ministry to happen it means their children need to be taken care of. I can’t tell you how many times Randy has kept other people’s children so that the Mom and I could go out for coffee or have dinner together. He really views that as part of ministry. That has always touched my heart over the years. He supports women’s ministry by making awesome looking materials for us and by hanging umbrellas from the ceiling. He supports women’s ministry by valuing women and recognizing their ability to help facilitate discipleship. Even more practically he helps me when I am going off on a crazy path. For the recent event Front Porch Stories…..we sat on our front porch (I know right!) and I gave him my notes and told him what I was going to do. I could see the look in his eyes and knew he was about to spew truth out and it wasn’t what I wanted to hear but needed to hear. Sure enough. I had crafted an entire workshop’s worth of material that could be taught over a weekend on evangelism but only had a 30 minute segment of time. It was completely off. And so he supported women’s ministry by graciously but directly pointing it out to me. He helped equip me so I could be more effective and we could accomplish our purpose for the day.
I’m extremely thankful for a pastor husband who supports women’s ministry at our church.
So today I’m shamelessly bragging on my man and his creative abilities by posting some of his most recent artwork for our women’s event.
