May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace AS YOU TRUST HIM, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Do you see that four word phrase in which all the other good things hinge on?
“as you trust.” (You could put a Princess Bride twist on the phrase it if you wanted and say it like ninja Wesley as he rolls down the grassy hill yelling to Buttercup, “Assssssss yoouuuu wissssshhhhh.” Or you could just say it like a normal person. But how boring.)
God pours into us with a filling of joy and peace as we trust him and then we overflow – spill out – with hope. It’s not a hope we can produce but it’s a hope that comes from the power of the Holy Spirit that resides in those who have a relationship with Him.
After finding these verses I sensed God telling me to write out the areas I would trust him as I walk through life right now. So I grabbed my journal and wrote real big at the top, ” as I TRUST” these are a few of the things I wrote down:
Lord, I trust you to reveal and soften the hard areas of my heart.
Lord, I trust you to Provide for our family.
Lord, I trust you in our church.
Lord I trust you with my children and their health.
Lord, I trust you with our parent’s health.
I need to tell you that the very next day. Somebody look at your neighbor 6 feet away and say the very next day. The very next day I had an opportunity to either freak out completely or remind myself that I would trust God as we walked through a specific new and unexpected concern in one of the above declarations I had prayerfully made.
God used his word the day before to help me put into action the very next day as I trusted him. The word “as” makes me thing of something that continues to happen. It’s not a one and done thing. You talk as you walk. You pray as you go. You listen as you work. It’s a continual process.
There is a very real peace over this concern of ours. A peace that comes as a result of trusting in our God. He said so. And I believe him. But I’m also getting to experience it. And that’s really awesome.
Trust him my friends. He’s worth trusting. The peace and joy that comes from it produces a hope that can’t keep you down.
So when you get knocked down next remember these words in Romans
“Asssssss youuuuuuu trusttttttt….”
I know – so corny. But I couldn’t help myself, ya’ll.

I love this Melody! This is a special verse to me, and the emphasis on “as you trust Him”” says so much!!

I love how it’s all right there for us, ya know? He tells us clearly how to have peace and hope. It’s not always easy to
trust Him. In fact it’s flat out hard many times but he’s proven Himself over and over again.
