Our animal loving preteen put his gerbils in the GA bulldog helmet lamp and delighted in their new play area while I was having a panic attack on the sidelines.
Love that profile of our manchild that’s turning into a young man. I keep reminding myself that I will miss these crazy pet antics that he pulls. The live bird he found outside and put in the purely decorative bird cage that sits high up on the bookshelf. Bird poop all in it, not to mention dead bird germs the next day. The lost lizards in the house while I sit on the kitchen table until it’s found. The frogs that jumped out of his hands and far reached my personal boundary line. Oh and there’s so much more. It’s what a boy does though so I try hard to remember, through panicked screams of loose rodents in our house, that this too shall pass and one day I will actually miss it.
Probably.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’ll miss it.

i imagine you, on mitchell’s wedding day, saying to his bride, “tag! you’re it!”

Ha! ha! Good way to put it.
