I love this man right here. For so many different reasons I love him. But these are just a few…….
We had a friend bring us two wonderfully scrumptious truffles back from the cheesecake factory. My truffle lasted .o2 seconds. Randy, on the other hand, left his on the counter. All day long. I was home all day long and passed by that truffle a hundred times. When the kids got home from school they lamented over the fact that we were truffle less and as time went by the temptation was wearing down on us.
But we held fast and didn’t partake of that divine piece of heaven. Randy came home for dinner and afterwards he handed me his truffle. I know……so sweet of him. I gave it back and we went back and forth a few times fighting over the truffle until he took one tiny bite and handed it to me and said, “Here, you eat it. I delight in you delighting in this.” Awwwww…..I know! So sweet. I took a bite and then we let Sophie have a bite and Mitchell got a scrumpdilyicious buckeye that another friend made. I love my man because he delights in what his family delights in. Breaking that down into simple terms: he shares his chocolate.
I also love the fact that my man is really smart and handy. Look what he put in for us!
We are now sporting three different color appliances in our kitchen. Ha! It’s the kind of thing where we spent all our “house repair” budget on other areas of the house (3 bathrooms remodeled). Hey, it keeps us humble so it’s a good thing. Randy installed it for us this weekend and we’ve done about 4 loads of dishes just for the fun of it. Love that my man is handy.
I also love that my man has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ because that is the core of who he is. That is why he is the way he is and does the things he does. He follows Christ and in that he leads and loves his family. I am truly thankful and humbled that God chose me to be the wife of such a special man. I love him dearly.
We celebrated yesterday by having lunch, going to a movie and shopping for shoes. Four pairs of shoes later my man looks at me and says, “Why is it I can never find a pair of shoes when I’m by myself but when I’m with you I find four pairs?!” We totally racked up on the good deals! I was so excited for him. Later we went out to dinner and then opened presents. He was super excited about his new extended version of the Hobbit as well a new shirt. And a microwave. Insert embarrassed laugh for two reasons. 1) what wife buys her husband a microwave for a present and 2) it was a disaster of a purchase.
I can’t buy appliances without Randy. And when I do attempt I come back with a huge monster microwave that also grills on the top rack. What? Is that even possible to use without electrocuting your entire family? I realized as I was wrapping it just how big it was. It took the entire new roll of paper. And I could barely lift it. The look on his face when he opened it screamed, “Annnnd this is what happens when my wife goes appliance shopping all.by.her.self.” He was kind of course and gently tells me later that it’s rather large for a microwave. I agreed and back it goes today. Ha! See, when we moved four years ago we left our microwave behind because it was built in. And we just never have replaced it. I’ve loved not having another appliance on the counter top in order to save on space and not looked so cluttered. But Randy has really missed having one. We mock each other all the time at how we reheat food. He has a method and I have another. He uses the toaster oven for everything. I use a sauce pan for everything except pizza and so it’s been fun making fun of each other. If we get another smaller microwave we will totally miss out on the mockery. I think maybe that’s a good reason not to get another one. hee hee.
Happy Birthday, Randy! I love you Sweetheart.
