Thanks to a friend who Skyped Sophie’s Kindergarten program her Daddy and Grandparents could watch it live from the hospital. Her class sang songs, quoted Bible verses, recited poems and played “take the chair”. It was an awesome program. But I have to say my all time favorite part was at the end when our principal was praying and all heads were bowed and eyes closed. From the stage Sophie starts dramatically blowing kisses, waving, kissing her necklace in the most princess way possible. I happened to look up at her and saw her doing this and was shocked. I asked her about it later and she turned it on me and said, “You had your eyes opened during prayer?!!!” Like I got in trouble for opening my eyes for three seconds during prayer while she was conducting a dramatic mono-log. Go figure. I asked her how long she had been doing that and she said she did it the whole time. She said she was blowing kisses to her Daddy who she knew was watching. In her mind it was just she and her Daddy in that moment while everyone else had their eyes closed. And that’s a memory I will hold forever in my heart. I just wish there were more heathens that got a glimpse of that little episode than just me. Ha! It’s just ironic to me that while we were all being led in prayer to our Abba Father that one of His little girls was just having a good ole’ time with her earthly father. I hated to rain on the daddy/daughter parade but we did talk about not making a habit out of throwing a little party during prayer time.
